چکیده

A polar metabolite of 24,ZSdihydroxyvitamin DS has been generated both in vivo in rats from 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and in vitro from 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin DS with chicken kidney homogenates. This metabolite has been isolated in pure form and identified as 1,24,25-trihydroxyvitamin Da by means of ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometry, mass spectrometry and its reactivity to periodate treatment. 1,24,25-Trihydroxyvitamin DS is 60% as active as vitamin Da in curing rickets. It is less active on a weight basis than 1,ZSdihydroxyvitamin Da in stimulating and sustaining intestinal calcium transport and bone calcium mobilization but appears to have preferential action on the intestine.

Liquid Metabolite of Lactobacillus plantarum and Putrescine Effects on Growth, Tissue Polyamine, Blood Lipids and Intestine Morphology of Broiler Chickens

This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of liquid metabolite (LM) produced by Lactobacillus plantarum and dietary putrescine (PUT) on growth, blood lipids, villus height (VH), crypt depth (CD) and polyamines (PAs) content of intestinal tissue and ileal digesta in chickens. Six treatments, replicated six time each, were factorial arrangements of two levels of LM (0 and 0.3%) and three l...

A rapidly acting metabolite of vitamin D3.

A vitamin D(3) metabolite in intestine more polar than 25-hydroxy-vitamin D(3)(25-OH D(3)) has been detected by countercurrent distribution. The intestinal metabolite is found also after administration of labeled hydroxy D(3), indicating that it arises from vitamin D(3) via the intermediate 25-hydroxy derivative. The more polar metabolite is localized in the nuclear-chromatin fraction and appea...

Vitamin D and the urgency of paying attention to this vital element in the body

Vitamin D is a vital element in the body that plays an important role in the growth and strength of muscles and bones by its effect on calcium absorption from the intestine. Vitamin D biosynthesis begins with the exposure to UV of sunlight from the skin. Cholecalciferol transfers from the skin and the intestine to the liver, and then binds to the DBP protein and eventually enters the kidney to...

Mechanism of action of 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol on intestinal calcium transport.

The prior administration of actinomycin D prevents the metabolism of [(3)H]25-hydroxycholecalciferol to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, a metabolite of vitamin D(3) that is effective in the stimulation of intestinal calcium transport. In this paper, the question of whether the response of intestinal calcium transport to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol is sensitive to actinomycin D was examined. Wh...
